Due to the bandwidth limitations of Zedmed Cloud, Telehealth practitioners use Zedmed's Companion App to manage the Clinical Waiting Room on their local computer's browser.
The Telehealth setup guide explains how to make the Companion App available. Each practitioner logs into the App using Single Sign On, and adds their clinic as explained in this guide.
Requires Zedmed 38.5 or later.
To set up a practitioner:
- In Clinical, select the practitioner's My Options.
- Select the Function Selections tab.
- Tick Show the Telehealth button.
- Select Show Telehealth Identity Code.
A QR code will display. The code is used to add this clinic to the practitioner's Companion App in step 7. -
Open the Companion App.
The app is open in a web browser using the saved shortcut. - Enter a name for the clinic.
The QR code options will display. - Use the QR code to add the clinic to the Companion App using either of these 2 options:
Option 1 - Copy/paste the code
a) Select Copy on the Function Selection screen (see step 4).
b) Paste the code into the field provided on the Companion App and click Go.
This is best if the Companion App and the QR code are on the same device or workstation.Option 2 - Scan the code
a) Select the Use QR Code button on the Companion App.
b) Use the device's camera to scan the QR code (see step 4).
This is best if the Companion App and the QR code are on different devices. - On the Companion app, select Log in.
- Authenticate using Single Sign (Okta or Duo). For example, Okta
- Select Keep me signed in.
- Enter your username.
- Select Next.
- Enter your password.
- Select Verify.
- The practitioner's phone will push a 2FA prompt.
- The Companion App will open in the default web browser.
- Bookmark the Companion App in the browser.

For multiple clinics
Repeat these steps for each Clinic that needs to be added. Opening the QR code from that clinic's Zedmed environment. This applies to clinics that have their own Zedmed database.
